Mango-Avo-Lemo-Choco Froyo

Have you ever noticed that frozen yogurt is highly addictive?  Every time that I go to a froyo shop, I want to go back the next day, and again the next, and the next…It’s just so sweet, tart, tangy, and light.
So, I decided to outsmart the frozen yogurt vendors by making my own froyo at home.  This way, I don’t get overwhelmed by the dozens of flavors and toppings, and I don’t worry about how much my yogurt weighs.  While I do love to support the local shops, the daily froyo habit can get a bit pricey.  Homemade froyo is a less-expensive alternative.
Mango-avocado-lemon-chocolate chip, and chocolate peanut butter are both high on my homemade favorites list:

Mango-Avo-Lemo-Choco Froyo
(print this recipe)

1.5-2 c. plain nonfat yogurt (I used Trader Joes’ European Style)
1.5-2c. frozen mango
1/2 medium avocado (about 1/2 c. flesh)
1/3-1/2 c. sugar (I used turbinado)

juice of 1/2 lemon (I used meyer)
chocolate chips

-Blend first 4 ingredients
-Pour into ice cream maker (be sure to pre-freeze the bowl!)
-Swirl in lemon juice and chocolate chips
-Wait until froyo has thickened, and serve in cute ice cream bowls 😉

YUM.

If you are looking for something with less fruit, and more…CHOCOLATE…

Chocolate Peanut Butter Froyo
(print this recipe)

2 fresh bananas
2 c. plain nonfat yogurt
1/4 c. cocoa powder
1/4 c. honey
1/4 c. avocado (optional)
1/4 c. room temperature natural peanut butter

-Blend the first 5 ingredients
-Pour into ice cream maker
-Once froyo has thickened, turn off ice cream maker, and swirl in peanut butter with a rubber spatula. -Serve or freeze in a tupperware for later…but can you really wait?
