The Race: UC-San Diego Tritonman
The Distance: Sprint (750-yard swim + 21-km bike + 5-km run)
The Format: Draft-legal
The Support Crew: Hubs, Mom, Dad, Aunt Dorothy
The Pre-Race Predicament: Getting hit by another car on the freeway…and our car being totaled. Sad to say goodbye to our brave lil toaster.
The Pre-Race Dinner: Heaps of Spaghetti and Meatballs
The Pre-Race Breakfast: Oatmeal, raisins, walnuts, brown sugar, cinnamon, a banana, and coffee
The Swim: 750-yard circuit in Mission Bay, 61 degrees. We had a beach start (run in), which is always exciting.
The Wetsuit: HUUB (we got it on eBay!)
The Goggles: I looooooove Blue Seventy Element goggles.
T1: Pretty uneventful, thank goodness.
The Bike: Draft-legal, 3 loops around Fiesta Island.
T2: I got a 10-second penalty for dropping my hat outside of my transition box (in ITU racing you are required to put all of your stuff in your box!).
The Run: 3 loops around the park/promenade. I served my time in the penalty box on lap #2.
The End 🙂
